On behalf of California's Democratic Congressional Delegation (CDCD), I would like to welcome you to our website! The delegation consists of the thirty-four Democratic members of the CDCD House of Representatives from California.
My colleagues and I are proud to represent the most beautiful state in our country and are committed to promoting the best interests of the Golden State in our nation's capital.
As chair of the CDCD, I work closely with my California colleagues in D.C. to champion the values that matter to all Californians: making sure children have access to a quality education, protecting our environment, creating economic opportunities, promoting health care coverage for all, and ensuring that our homeland is safe from the threat of terrorism. A major mission is to shape the federal budget to reflect California's priorities.
We hope this website is a useful tool in getting to know the thirty-four Democratic members of the CDCD House of Representatives who represent communities across every region of our state in Congress. Please visit again soon.
Sincerely,
Zoe Lofgren

7/14/2008 California Democratic Congressional Delegation Chair Responds to President’s Decision on Offshore Oil Drilling
Washington, DC –
Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Chair of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation, released the following statement today after President Bush announced that he is lifting the executive ban on offshore oil drilling:
Once again President Bush has proven that he is more interested in politics than in practical solutions to the problems faced by everyday Americans. The President’s decision to lift the executive ban on oil drilling off America’s coastlines is a public relations ploy that will do nothing to lower prices for American consumers. Oil companies are currently holding onto nearly 68 million acres of public lands and coastal areas that are not being drilled. If the President was truly interested in helping American consumers, he would work with Congress to develop a long term solution to out dependence on oil and immediate efforts to deal with gas prices through fighting the oil cartel price manipulations.
The California Democratic Congressional Delegation consists of 34 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives from California. This group outnumbers all other state House delegations - Republicans and Democrats combined.
